Analytics Policy

Last drafted: 2026-10-23. Effective date: [TO BE SET WHEN APPROVED].

Status: analytics is wired into the Site but switched off. Nothing in this policy is collected until Mad Hare turns analytics on. When it does, it runs only for visitors who accept it.

This policy covers website analytics. Telemetry from Pilot runs (turn counts, spend, verdicts) is a different thing, described in the Privacy Policy.

1. The tool

We use Umami, an open-source web analytics tool, self-hosted by Mad Hare on our own Google Cloud project. No third-party analytics company receives your data. It sets no cookies and writes nothing to your browser's storage.

2. What it collects

Exactly these fields, per page view or event:

FieldExampleNotes
Page path and query string/legal/privacyThe query string can carry campaign tags
Referrernews.ycombinator.comThe site you came from
Campaign tagsutm_source=linkedinOnly if present in the link you clicked
Browser, operating system, device typeFirefox, Linux, desktop
Screen size1440x900
Languageen-US
CountryUSLooked up from your IP address. The IP address itself is not stored.
A visit identifiera one-way hashMade from your IP address, browser string and our site id with a rotating salt. We do not use it to identify you. It lets us count visitors and visits.
Time

It does not collect: your name, email address, form contents, text you type, precise location, cross-site activity, or anything from pages you view on other sites. We do not use session replay, heatmaps, fingerprinting scripts or advertising pixels. We do not sell or share analytics data.

3. The events we count

Only these named events, with no extra data attached:

EventWhen it fires
view_landingThe offer page is viewed
click_book_callThe "book a scoping call" button is clicked
click_buyThe "start a pilot" button is clicked
checkout_completeYou return from payment to the thank-you page
intake_submittedThe intake form is submitted. We count the event. We do not send what you wrote.

[THESE EVENT BUTTONS DO NOT EXIST YET. THE LIST WILL ONLY BE LIVE WHEN THE OFFER PAGE SHIPS.]

4. Why

To learn which pages help visitors, where they come from and whether the buying path works, so we can improve the Site. Our legal basis under GDPR is your consent. You give it by choosing "Accept analytics" in the cookie banner.

5. How long we keep it

Raw page-view and event records are deleted after 13 months [RETENTION IS ANDREW'S DECISION]. Reports built from them contain only totals and are kept as long as they are useful. A scheduled job performs the deletion. [THE JOB IS NOT BUILT YET.]

6. Your opt-outs

Analytics is off by default. You can:

  1. Leave the banner on "Decline non-essential", or close it. That is a decline.
  2. Click Cookie settings in the footer at any time to turn analytics off. It stops at once.
  3. Turn on Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track in your browser. We then do not load analytics, even if you accepted earlier.
  4. Email support@madhare.ai to ask us to delete analytics records about you. Because the identifier is a one-way hash, we may need a few details from you to find them. Where we cannot identify them, the records stay as anonymous totals.

Traffic from Mad Hare's own staff and test environments is excluded from the counts.

7. Changes

If we change the tool, the fields collected, the events or the retention, we will update this page first. A new collection that goes beyond the fields above will ask for your consent again.
